Crafting Visual Stories

Our Journey

With 30 years in the industry, we're passionate about photography.

About Me

Kris Thornton is a passionate and multifaceted photographer with experience that spans across commercial, editorial, lifestyle, product, sports, and theatrical work. His love for photography began in high school, shooting candid moments for the yearbook and developing a sharp eye for sports photography and portraiture. That early curiosity led him to Southern California, where college courses deepened his understanding of composition, light, film, and landscape photography.

Over the following decade, Kris sought out every opportunity to grow—studying under his uncle and mentor, consuming books and workshops, assisting on sets, and eventually interning alongside established professionals. During this period, he gained hands-on experience in commercial and advertising photography as well as fashion, editorial, product, and branding work.

After serving in the United States Army, Kris returned to college to complete a Liberal Arts degree with a concentration in visual arts. He became the primary theatrical photographer for multiple theater houses, capturing dance, musical productions, and dramatic stage work. His photograph of the opening scene of Sweeney Todd went on to be published in Vogue Italia—a milestone that helped propel his commercial career forward. Over the next ten years, Kris collaborated with respected photographers, designers, and models while refining his craft and expanding his creative range.

Kris eventually opened his first Studio KT facility in Virginia, where he ran a full studio operation alongside a successful brick-and-mortar camera store. During the pandemic, the store closed, but the studio continued to operate on a limited yet steady basis. Shortly after, Kris and his family returned to the Pacific Northwest—the region he originally called home.

After taking time to settle in and care for his daughter, Kris is now focused on rebuilding his creative network and bringing his skills, experience, and vision back to the local photography community.

The work featured on this site represents only a small selection of his portfolio. Kris hopes it gives you a sense of the quality, versatility, and creative depth he brings to every project.
